Abstract
tourist offices in Flanders. Specifically, we look into the ways employees alternate between Standard Dutch and Colloquial Belgian Dutch in terms of pronouns for the second person subject. We pay attention not only to social categories such as age and gender, but also to the discursive context and potential shifts in footing. The specific context of service encounters that combine institutional and relational talk allows us to chart the subtle communicative indexicalities of the different address terms.
