Abstract
Both beginning and ending a psychoanalysis in the current times, with ubiquitous technologies including AI increasing in prevalence, are more challenging for the analyst to navigate. This paper explores the role of technology in instantiating and supporting a kind of omnipotence and further creating leaks in the transference that makes the necessary conditions for beginning an analysis, such as depending on the analyst, and termination such as coming to terms with the limitations of the self and the analyst and the limits of time far more complicated and difficult. The author argues that crisp technique and a focus on mourning in these times is needed more than ever.
